Alternative Cures For Stomach Ulcers
Abdominal distress or “my stomach hurts” is one of the main reasons people go to the doctor. It is not surprising considering we don’t always eat the right foods and we may experience high levels of stress. Those two factors are the perfect combination of factors which cause your digestive system to weaken. Additionally, antibiotics can have a negative effect on the probiotics in your intestine. Probiotics are the helpful bacteria that live in your digestive system.
There are all kinds of traditional medicines out there to cure ulcers. Though many people seem to have limited success with what conventional medicine has to offer. I originally went to my doctor and took all the drugs he prescribed and took all the tests he ordered but nothing seem to help. I have always been open to trying natural cures. In searching on the internet for home remedies for stomach ulcers, I found a variety of suggestions. I was very pleased with the results of the natural cures I tried and many participants in the forums seem to agree with me. There were many different cures that were suggested. Here are the ones I found that worked for me.
Cabbage is one of those foods that cause many people to have gas but cabbage juice is actually a very effective cure for stomach ulcers. The reason is that cabbage has a high concentration of an amino acid called L-Glutamine. L-Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the human body and is involved in many metabolic processes. L-Glutamine is also an important source of fuel for enterocytes (intestinal cells) and therefore helps strengthen the intestinal lining. If you don’t want to take the time to boil cabbage to get the juice, take L-glutamine capsules.
When you think of Aloe Vera juice you usually think about as a cure for a burn or a sun burn. Actually though Aloe Vera will help with stomach problems also. When my doctor (who uses natural cures and conventional ones) first told me about it, I had never heard of it before as something you drink. Health food stores carry Aloe juice and if your grocery store has a health food section, they may have it too. Now I always keep a supply of Aloe Vera juice at home and when my stomach hurts for any reason, I drink some. The dosage is about two ounces of the juice each day. Aloe Vera juice is also anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti viral and also an anti inflammatory agent.
Capsaicin or cayenne pepper is also a natural cure for stomach ulcers. Capsicum or cayenne pepper is a popular ingredient of many cuisines around the world. It has been used in traditional medical systems as a remedy for digestive and circulatory problems, poor appetite, and to relieve muscle and arthritic pain. When you consume cayenne pepper you get a burning sensation in your mouth but it turns out that it is actually good for your stomach if you take it internally (swallow it). “Capsaicin appears to work its magic by stimulating nerves in the stomach wall,” say pharmacists Joe Graedon and Teresa Graedon, Ph.D., coauthors of The People’s Pharmacy books. “This dilates blood vessels and improves blood flow to the stomach wall, which supports healing.”
Besides l-glutamine (cabbage juice), capsiacan and aloe vera many natural remedies sugguest herbal teas made from marshmallow, slippery elm, meadowsweet, or calendula; these botanicals all work to soothe irritated mucous linings. Chamomile is also recommended for a wide variety of digestive upsets. Chamomile will cause all the smooth muscles throughout the body to relax. The herb acts on the digestive tract and quickly brings relief from any muscular tension and spasms and it can also decrease the amount of abdominal pain, and reduce excess production of gas. If you take Coumadin, heparin, Plavix, Ticlid or Trental which are blood thinners you should consult your physician before using chamomile.
