Hemorrhoids Treatment – Which Treatments Work And Which Ones Have Failed?

Hemorrhoids treatments are of various types. You can get them treated using conventional medicine, or use natural and alternative therapies. I am a firm believer in finding natural solutions to all ailments, but before we talk about external hemorrhoids, let us answer the question – what are external hemorrhoids?

External hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed blood veins and capillaries around the anus. They are clearly visible to the ordinary eyes and can vary in sizes depending on their severity. They can vary in sizes from the size of a small pea to the size of a grapefruit.
External hemorrhoids – What causes them?

It is not known for sure but eating too much processed foods does not help matters. Also too much sugar, chocolate, coffee, milk products, pastries and biscuits tends to worsen the situation. External hemorrhoids are different from internal hemorrhoids, which tend to remain in the rectum and invisible to the ordinary eye. It is possible to suffer from either internal or external hemorrhoids or even both.

Hemorrhoids – Which treatments have failed so far?
I once suffered from hemorrhoids myself, I used the commonly prescribed suppositories and creams, but they did not work for me. If they did it at all it was always for a very short period of time. At one point, I even considered having surgery but the doctor told me that was no guarantee that the hemorrhoids would not return. So why go through the pain of having them surgically removed only for the hemorrhoids to return in 6 months or a couple of years down the line?

hemorrhoids treatment- Simple strategies that help to relieve the pain.

So what are the simple that you can use at home that will immediately ease the pain?
1. Never strain in the toilet as this would only make things worse.

2. Don’t sit down for too long, an hour at most. Sitting down for too long creates additional pressure on the bottom area. That combined with a sharp pain such as constipation of pregnancy can make things worse. Trust me I know, because I have been there.

3. If you are in serious pain then try sitting in a basin of cold water. This may come as a shock but doing this would help lessen the inflammation and reduce the engorged blood vessels.

4. Never strain in the toilet as this would only make things worse.

5. Take 1 Capsule of milk thistle twice a day to help soften the stool and cleanse the liver.

6. Add herb bilberry to your dietary regimen. It is high in bioflavonoids, which are anti-inflammatory compounds that help relieve external hemorrhoids. If your case is acute, then take 1 capsule of the bilberry every hour until healed.

7. Rub pilewort ointment to the area regularly, twice a day at the start.
